A Few Things to do in Vryheid:
From The Oxford Lodge, start at the Information Bureau of Vryheid, a conversion from the old Carnegie Library built with funds from the great American philanthropist of the same name.
The present police station is a National Monument and across the road is the Lucas Meijer Huis where the first president of the Republiek resided. It is now a museum and well worth a visit.
Vryheid is a town of over 30 churches of which the Methodist Church is the oldest completed church.
The Dutch Reformed Moderkerk in the centre of town was completed in 1894.
The Anglican Church of the St Peters is a typical Sir Herbert Baker design with a lectern-dedicated to Lt Col Gawne, the officer killed on Lancaster Hill.

There are 3 dams ideal for fishing and boat cruises inVryheid.
We have a game reserve that you can take a drive through close to town.
We have 2 hot springs approximately 30 km from Vryheid to relax at for a day. The Mpofini Mountain, south east of town (5 km) is another area which deserves a visit. The Klipfontein Bird Sanctuary lies 2 km south west of town and is a success story to visit.

We have a lovely golf course, with pub and restaurant where you can relax after a busy day.
